Mark Ruthenberg is Advantage Tech’s Vice President, and our go-to person on Technology Issues, our LinkedIn specialist, and teacher of Job Searching on the Internet.
He graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in 1980, and moved to Calgary. Mark has 40 years experience in the computer industry, initially consulting to his Chartered Accounting practice* clientele.
In 1988 he began the Humana Computer Training training company, which grew to 35 staff training 15,000 people a year, and was then acquired. He then founded Humana Computer Support for courseware development and training book publishing, with clients around the world. DiscoverWare was founded to develop software training CD-ROMs (and he took the company public, and it was acquired by a worldwide HR and training company).
Since 1995, he has been actively involved in websites, web marketing, online advertising, and content strategy, advising companies across Canada. He is also the President of TransCanada FoundLocally Inc. which runs several websites reaching an audience of a million visitors a month, inclusing the travel site TransCanadHighway.com. He has been on LinkedIn since it has been available.
Mark was a founding director of of industry group Digital Alberta (formerly the Alberta New Media Association), and has served as director for 10 years and 3 years as President). He has served on Academic Advisory Board of SAIT Polytechnic’s New Media Studies programs since 1998 Mark has also served 3 years on Mount Royal University’s Academic Advisory Board for Digital Communications Studies.
